Keibooks Announces Atlas Poetica 9 : A Journal of Poetry of Place in Contemporary Tanka

26 July 2011 —Perryville, Maryland, USA

Today Keibooks released *Atlas Poetica 9, *the latest installment in the
highly regarded journal. The issue inaugurates several important changes
behind the scenes that improve production values and international access.
ATPO 9 is the first issue to be printed with CreateSpace (it was formerly
printed with Lulu Enterprises) and has even better paper quality and print
quality. In addition, thanks to its partnership with Amazon.com, CreateSpace
should provide a better customer experience for international customers.

Keibooks is also pleased to announce that Christina Nguyen has joined the
staff as an editorial assistant. In particular, she is assisting with
proofreading—a meticulous job given the complexity of the journal with its
international submissions, various types of verse, articles, and
announcements.

ATPO 9 continues to publish tanka, waka, kyoka, and gogyoshi, along with
sequences, prosimetrum, book reviews and announcements, and non-fiction
articles on a variety of topics. This issue has a focus on prosimetrum,
especially tanka prose, but also other examples combining five line Japanese
verse and prose. It features an in depth interview with Jeffrey Woodward
discussing the history and practice of tanka prose conducted by Claire
Everett.

Also included in this issue is a focus on Twitter poetry, with tanka, kyoka,
and gogyoshi by poets that publish on Twitter, along with articles about the
impact of Twitter on five line poetry and an informative “how to” and “why
bother” article for poets interested in trying Twitter for themselves.
