Several MET Press Titles Displayed at Poets House Showcase 2011, NYC, New York

Baltimore, Maryland – June 28, 2011 – This summer Poets House celebrates the 2011 Poets House Showcase, a festival of the art unlike any other—where all of this year's new books, from publishers large and small across America, will be on display. Several titles published by Modern English Tanka Press will be on display at the Showcase in New York City opening on June 28, 2011. The Showcase is an annual exhibition of all of the year's new poetry books and a festival of events presented during National Poetry Month. Last year's Showcase included more than 2,100 books of poetry, representing the work of more than 600 publishers: commercial, university, independent, and micro-presses.

The Poets House Showcase is organized by publisher so that the work of each press can be seen as a whole, it provides a unique forum for literary branding. It makes books available to the acquisitions and prize committees who come to Poets House to review all of the new books for the year. It means included books will be listed in the Directory of American Poetry Books, which provides bibliographic detail for all of the books displayed. It secures included books a place in the national archive being built at Poets House and it provides year-round exposure to readers and writers of poetry.

The following titles published by Modern English Tanka Press will be displayed at the 2011 Poets House Showcase:

Ambrosia: Journal of Fine Haiku, No. 5, Summer 2010.

First Winter Rain: Selected Tanka from 2006–2010, by Denis M. Garrison.

The Maternal Line: The 13th Tanka Collection by Kawano Y ko, translated by Amelia Fielden and Saeko Ogi.

Dreams Wander On: Contemporary Poems of Death Awareness, edited by Robert Epstein.

I’m a Traveler: a collection of tanka, by Kozue Uzawa.

Haiku Wisdom : Living the Principles and Philosophies of Kung Fu, Haiku and Nature, by Don Baird.

Take Five: Best Contemporary Tanka, Volume Three, edited by M. Kei, Patricia Prime, Kala Ramesh, Alex von Vaupel, Aurora Antonovic, Magdalena Dale, Amelia Fielden, Andrew Riutta, and James Tipton.
