Sanford Goldstein to be honored with concert, readings

On October 11 in the evening, a concert will be held honoring Sanford Goldstein as a tanka poet. He will read 29 of his tanka after the intermission. Later six of his tanka will be set to music, one read with the music, the other five sung by a member of the cast. The music is composed by Nagako Konishi, known widely in Niigata Prefecture in Japan. The concert will be held in Niigata at the famous Noh Theatre. Goldstein's tanka have been translated by the producer and director of the event, Aiko Sato, Goldstein's former student of decades ago and herself an English teacher.
